Protect Your Septic: 3 Reasons To Have Your Septic Pipes Jet-Vac Cleaned

If you have a septic system, you can't afford to take it for granted. Unfortunately, that's what you might be doing, especially if you're not giving your system the proper care. Basic service needs include having your septic tank emptied at least once every three to five years. If you have a large family or more than one or two bathrooms, you should have your tank emptied more often than that. But, there's something else you should be doing for your septic system. You should be having your septic drains jet-vac cleaned with each service call. Here are three ways jet-vac cleaning can help improve the life of your septic system.

Loosens Accumulated Waste

If you've never looked inside your septic pipes, you don't know what's there. Unfortunately, what you don't know could actually harm your septic system. That's because most septic pipes are coated with a thick layer of human waste, food waste, and paper products. All that accumulation can cause serious damage to your septic system. Ordinary septic service doesn't get rid of the accumulated waste. Basic septic service only removes waste products found in the tanks. Jet-vac cleaning loosens the accumulated waste and flushes it through to the septic tank. That way, it can be emptied with the rest of the waste.

Clears Roots From Septic Pipes

If you've never had your septic pipes jet-vac cleaned, they could be clogged with roots. This is especially true if you have trees and shrubbery in your yard. You might not think roots can pose any threat to your septic pipes. But, that's not the case. Roots can actually damage your pipes in a couple of ways. First, the roots can grow so large that they crack the pipes from the inside. Second, the roots can wrap themselves around the septic pipes. When that happens, the pressure can crush your septic pipes. Jet-vac cleaning clears roots from the septic pipes.

Gets Rid of Mineral and Scale Deposits

If you've had your septic system for more than a few years, you could be facing a problem with mineral and scale deposits. You might think that mineral and scale deposits only affect the water lines inside your home. But, mineral and scale deposits can cause harm to your septic pipes, as well. Ordinary septic cleaning won't remove the deposits. That's why you need to have your septic pipes jet-vac cleaned. The high-pressure cleaning action will remove the deposits that threaten your septic pipes.
